Remember When...

Remember when you would look at the Sears Wishbook and dream of Christmas morning? Remember when you were just a few hundred feet in the woods and thought for sure you were lost forever? Remember when your favorite TV show was canceled because of a special news broadcast that you didn't think was important at all? Remember your first day of school, or your last? What do you remember? Do you remember the first sleep over? The first love? The first driving lesson? The first time you lost a friend? What about when you were married? I have a memory that recalls trivial things like movie quotes and funny stories from my childhood coupled with a total disconnect from where I left my car keys. Earlier today I was watching my kids play and wondering what there remembering. I wish I could remember every look every funny comment or the way they might misspeak certain words. Wouldn't you love to have a "life DVR?"

Awards Day

Yesterday I had the honor of observing my sweet girl receive rewards for highest average in her class in most every subject. I was filled with pride when she was given each award. Following the program Mandy and I walked with Abbey back to her classroom. It was there Abbey received the highest honor of all. Two people shared with Mandy and me about our little girls sweet Christian attitude. Good grades will only take one so far in life. What will separate you from the rest of the scholars is the goodness of Christ Jesus living inside us. If we are good it is because Jesus is good. If we speak a kind word it is because Jesus is kind. If we have compassion on someone it is because Jesus is compassionate. Christ in us is the hope of Glory.

Enjoying a great Saturday with my two awesome children at the playlpark in McDonalds. This is in stark contrast to my previous Saturday assisting tornado victims in Franklin county AL. The events of April 27th have gripped my heart in a powerful way. I cannot describe how blessed I feel sitting here at total ease. Several men and women from my church have gone back today to assist those affected by the tornados. This passed week I have heard unbelievable stories from victims and relatives of victims. I would have a hard time believing them too if i had not seen it with my own eyes. God has blessed me and the rest of the Colley dogs. I hope our compassion will never diminish for all those sweet families that are suffering.

Worship is Not an Event its a Lifestyle!

Event - an occurrence that is sharply localized at a single point in space and instance of time.
Lifestyle - the habits, attitudes, tastes, moral standards, economic level, etc. that together constitute the mode of living of an individual or group "Worship is not an event; it is a lifestyle" became my philosophy for ministry in early 2002. Long story short, the church I was serving was having difficulties, and my ministry was coming to an end there. Mandy's dad was diagnosed with pancreatitis and spent over 6 months in the hospital. The final straw was when I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. In these dark months, God placed a dear brother in my life. He told me that I would come through this like gold. I remember thinking, how arrogant of him to say that to me. I did not have the ability to see that God was refining my life. I continued to go to church but was miserable Sunday after Sunday. I did not obtain any satisfaction from the services. Even worse, God seemed to be silent. I shared all these things with Bro. Allen. I could not get hold of the circumstances. He replied with a life changing statement, "Worship is not an event; it's a lifestyle." The ax fell. I had been throwing the world's biggest pity party Monday through Saturday, and then I expected to go to "worship" and showers of blessings to fall. In my hour of discouragement, I had completely lost my focus. I'm thankful to say that now I have regained perspective. Now, I wish I could say that I am perfect and I walk in sunshine all week long and heaven comes down every day in my life. I can't say that, but now I live with the perspective that I do not have to wait till Sunday to get it all straightened out. I'm going to walk and talk with Jesus, and Sunday I'm going to celebrate what He has allowed me to experience all week long. Where are you when it comes to worship? Is Sunday the first and last time God crosses your mind? I hope it is simply the first day of seven you offer totally to Jesus. If you allow your happiness to depend on your happenings, you will spend life totally discontented. However, if you will recognize that every second of our existence is a gift and our circumstances are ultimately for our good, worshiping God will be your lifestyle.

More than six months have passed since we began rehearsals for A Baby Changes Everything. It was a bold challenge for the UBC choir and drama team, but this past weekend has proved it was more than worth it. I thrills me so much to say once again what a blessing it is to serve at such an outstanding church. It was a true miracle to watch this production unfold. The faithful saints at UBC are so well equipt. God has placed the perfect cast of people to accomplish His work and will at Underwood.

The Hidden Blessing of Bronchitis!

I have bronchitis for the first time since I was just a teenager. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have been virtually sleepless nights. I was in the midst of a pity party because I missed choir rehearsal, which is a highlight of my week. However, in the midst of the sadness and sorrow, I have had some great inspiration from the Word of God.
I mentioned to several folks at the beginning of this month that I had spent a lot of time thinking about the hymn "Sweet Hour of Prayer" (click on the title to read the story and complete lyrics of this great hymn). I have been so convicted about the amount of time I spend truly seeking God. I have prayed to the Lord that I could become even more disciplined in my time with Him. So due to a little perspective change I now realize the blessing of bronchitis, Jesus has allowed me to get up Super early the last few mornings and spend some more time with Him. I love Jesus. I'm so thankful that He saved me and called me to serve Him in full time ministry.

In a previous post I talked in detail about the Colley's trip to Ohio. One thing I did not mention was the appointment that my little girl made with Jesus for her Salvation. She told me on Monday that she was going to ask Jesus in her heart on Friday of that week. Her mom and I sat down with her and shared several Bible verses with her and left it at that. She spent the next several weeks asking difficult questions. We were very serious about not persuading her to make a decision. We did not want her to do something and then when she is older question her what she had chosen to do. It was bedtime September 12th and Abbey told me that she wanted to be saved. I told her that it was bedtime and she just need to go to sleep. With a few more comments she talked me into sitting down and telling her again how she could be saved so I sat with her once again and began to read the scriptures to her. I read "whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, and from her bed she shouted "Jesus"! I was actually shocked. She proclaimed "I'm saved". I continued to read the scriptures to her and made sure that she was aware that sin is why we need a Savior and that she took some ownership in that. She stood by her bed bowed her head and prayed, "Jesus please take all this sin outta me"! I was floored. It is really that simple. Jesus provided Salvation to my sweet little daughter. I am so amazed by Jesus. To God Be The Glory Great Things He Has Done!

What is 1973?

Today Abbey was writing some notes while we were driving to school. Specifically she was writing down our birth dates. First hers then Bryant's next was my turn and I told her it was 08-06-73 and you should have seen the puzzled look she gave me. I tried to explain 1973, confusion mounted even more and she asked what is 1973? I love making memories with my daughter.
When we started throwing around dates I began to think of a couple other defining dates in my life. I remembered Saturday September 5th 1992. It was a overcast afternoon and two nervous teenagers were preparing to go on a date. She looked great in those green jeans. I will never forget my first date with my wife. Mandy and I have been married 13 years, but we knew it was going to be something special 17 years ago sitting in Pizza Hut.
I also remember Tuesday September 11th 2001. I was scheduled to sing at an association senior adult picnic. That morning I remember turning the TV on and seeing a stunned Fox news channel cast. I watched with our nation as the second plane hit the World Trade Center. I will never forget the day our country was attacked so viciously.
I'm going to wrap this up by chasing a rabbit. I'm a lot nervous about the current state of our country. I truly believe that the political system is out of control. I would love to see a leader that would take a STAND and not bow to the pressures of the political game. I growing confident that this will not happen prior to the Rapture of the Lord's Church. Dear friends it has been said for centuries that Jesus will return, I promise you it is the truth. Trust Christ Today receive His Salvation.
Jesus is the only way to inherit Heaven.

How To Have Great Worship Experience, Every Week

I work with a lot of wonderful musicians. Some weeks the music is really good. Some weeks the music is really great! Some weeks are better at one service than the other.
However... it's possible to have fantastic worship EVERY Sunday. Here are just a few ideas for you to help you make your time of worship a great time with God.

1. Remember that you are at church for God. It's not really all about you (don't mean to hurt your feelings). If your focus is on Him and not on hoping to hear your favorite song then true worship can happen.

2. Don't rely on the worship pastor or the band or the choir to get you all revved up or feeling good. Feelings are great, but in reality, worship is telling God how great He is and how much you love Him.

3. Worship with your mind as well as your heart. So many of the songs we sing have really terrific texts. We sometimes sing songs so many times that we just sing along and don't even think about the words. But the words are really the point. They tell of God's greatness, they encourage us, they teach us, they inspire us...

4. Come to worship expecting it to be wonderful. In most things in life you get out of them what you bring to them.

5. Pray before you come. (don't make me tell you everything. figure this part out yourself)

6. Worship during the week. It's good practice and your heart will be more in tune with God.

7. Some thinking about others more than yourself. (Ooops. There we go again with the "it's not all about you part.") Be happy to sing some old song knowing it speaks to the hearts of so many others. Be happy to sing that new song you don't know because it speaks to the hearts of so many others. (Get the idea?)

My Little Girl seven years old.
I remember well the Sunday afternoon. Mandy stayed home from church trying to continue her doctor instructed bed rest. I was in a meeting at FBC Savannah, TN, and the phone rang. Mandy told me there had been an "event" I rushed home and we rushed to the hospital. It was not time, the delivery date was weeks away. Still the doc. told us that it was happening, and less than 50 min after we arrived at the hospital Abbey Nell Colley was born. One week later we came home with this four pound girl wearing doll clothes from toys'r us. I could hold her in the palm of my hand. Now she is seven and I can harldy hold her 65lbs. at all. She is a treasure to me. God's precious gift.

Abbey and I on the Ohio State field. Turns out that it is a little frowned upon to be on the field. Keep that in mind when you visit this great campus. They were very hospitable to us.
It was a bit of a challenge to keep Mandy from yelling ROLL TIDE at everybody. She gets a little crazy around every football stadium.
It was awesome sharing Jesus with my family. We knocked on doors together. We shared the love of Jesus together. It was awesome. Family ministry is where it is at. We must teach our children the Holy Scriptures from birth till eternity. It is a parents responsibility to be a teacher and a discipler not a buddy. Eternity is not a joke it is reality and it is quickly approaching.

Health Care (who are they caring for?)

I've been trying to stay informed about new health care proposal our "leaders" are working on. I cant believe everyone is so blind to the obvious train wreck that is fast approaching. I lived in the state of TN for over 8 years and the entire time I was there I heard constant news story about Tenn Care, the state run insurance program, it was never positive. There were people in neighboring states simply getting a PO box in TN and qualifying for TLC (Tenn Care). One gentlemen I knew took such advantage that the local hospital would not even see him so when he called the ambulance to pick him up he would be immediately transported 50 miles away to another hospital. Then he would ride home in the gov. sponsored bus. This is a baby version of what our government is proposing. They are making a Mount Everest of health care plans. And the hypocrisy of not wanting to be on the same plan is just hilarious. If you have not heard the senator from NY saying "no one is trying to revamp health care" you should find he clip and listen. Its a joke. Control is what is being sought. No where in the world does this type of system work well. I'm shocked by the scare tactics proposed by some leaders trying to get citizens to give up freedoms for the greater good or for our survival.

Challenging Week

Then month of June ended on quite an difficult note. After a long battle with cancer my Dad finally lost on June 27. I visited Mayfield Kentucky and saw many of my family members for the first time. It was a mixture of emotions for the couple of days that Mandy and I were there. I was glad to get to know some things about my family. I say where my dad and his siblings went to school, their old home place and many other things.
The difficult lesson I learned through all this is that tomorrow is a myth. Do today what you need to get done. God has been gracious to me through all this. My family and church family have been such a great support. I'm so thankful for the path that God chose for me.

Pray for our president. He will be meeting Monday with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel. They will have some kind of talks about peace in the middle east. I'm truly afraid of what our president is doing on just about every subject. In his own policy statement on the whitehouse.org website speaks of a "two state" option. It has not worked for decades but President O. seems to think he can encourage everyone to just get along. I'm not very optimistic that this will happen. I know that many Jewish folks voted for Obama, but I can't imagine they are happy with the line he is taking with Israel. I feel it is a very important for the safety of America that we make the right decisions regarding Israel.

Randy Alcorn Is AWESOME!!!

I just finished my fifth Alcorn book and I would just like to say WOW! He is absolutely my favorite author. (I'm not comparing his books to the Bible I hope everyone reading my little blog would know that there is no comparison.) Anyways, I just love his books.. Let me share with you about my journey with Randy Alcorn. I have some dear friends in Belmont, MS that read all the time. They always share with me some of their favs and thankfully they shared Randy Alcorn with me.
The first book I read was Safely Home and it is still by far my favorite. This one gave me a small glimpse of Mr. Alcorn's view of Heaven. I don't think i have every read about my eternal home and it come so alive to me.( I wrote about this in an earlier blog post) I then moved on to Lord Foulgrin's Letters. To me it was kind of a modern Screwtape Letters it weaved a vivid story about our enemy's plot to destroy us. Then I read Dominion, Deadline, Deception these books immerse you into the life of about 6 or 7 characters and they all are terrific. Randy is a master of weaving a worldview into his books. He very carefully in narrative form shines the light on just about every viewpoint of difficult issues ranging from racism to abortion. I'm thankful that God has allowed him to share his gift with the world.
The first thing i would read about Randy is a little article in Christianity Today called "Pastor without a Paycheck" Randy was a pastor but the Lord allowed a very difficult chain of events and now we know and love Randy the author, not Pastor Randy. I'm thankful that he was listening and obedient. This is a lot of rambling about my little reading adventure since last September but I hope through this rambling you will discover the great adventure that can be enjoyed by reading Randy Alcorn.....The End......:)

What is going on in the world?

I think sometimes we are all going lazy and crazy. We just sit back and wait and hope for things to happen. I am becoming more positive that as the days of our lives get more wicked we are going to have to stand up and take action. I sickens me to watch our country being dragged through the mud by our current president. In the past months he has paraded around the world and tried to be a rock star and with his popularity tell the world that America is the worst, but he gonna make it all better. I remember a passage I read in an ancient manuscript that said "blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. We continue to slip and slide farther away from that every day. I was thinking this morning how uncertain things are. Then I read O. Chambers this morning and the title was The Graciousness of Uncertainty. He discussed how inclined we are to be mathematical. We need a conclusion we need control. Then he said this and it has help me gain my perspective for the day. "Certainty is the mark of the common-sense life: gracious uncertainty is the mark of the spiritual life. To be certain of God means that we are uncertain in all our ways, we do not know what a day may bring forth." I don't know what this presidency will bring. I assure you I'm not optimistic. However, God knows what is going to happen. And if i will simply dive into what he has for me i will be overwhelmed with HIS peace and CERTAINTY. That is all i need. A real and right relationship with Jesus Christ. Make sure my family knows and understands the riches he offers and focus on Him not on the "world affairs".

What a great Resurection Sunday. We had an unforgettalbe day of worship at Underwood Baptist our choir sang the glory down, and our pastor shared an awesome sermon. This Easter weekend has meant more to me than all the others before. Since I visited the Holy Land the stories in the Gospels have been so real to me. The Garden where He prayed, the place of the Cross where He was crucified it is a lot more real than it used to be. I was looking through my pictures after church this morning and came across this one taken early one morning looking out over the Sea of Galilee. I thought about Jesus telling the disciples he would meet them in Galilee. I think more often now than ever about the promise of the Lord made "I will Come again." How awesome to think that Jesus will one day return for me.

What an amazing trip. I have told many people that it was as much an emotional experience as it was physical. There were things I felt as I walked through he city where Jesus walked that I could never put into words much less take a photo of. I saw the Jordan river, the Sea of Galilee, the Church of the Nativity, I toured through Jericho, Bethlehem saw the Dead Sea. Went to Tiberius. I sang at Capernaum inside a Roman Amphitheater. I saw the modern city of Tel Aviv, viewed the great fortress of Meggido and looked out over the valley of armegeddon. And there are so many other things I saw that I could never even dreamed of. I saw some things that suprized me. Some that depressed me, other things that were quite shocking. All of this and all of the words I will ever speak till the day I die could never share with you the experience I had as I stood outside the Garden Tomb with hundreds of other pilgriams wanting to view inside the "EMPTY" tomb. I will just say WoW!! I'm so glad I serve a risen Savior. Jesus is Alive.

All is well we have arrived in Israel. We were quite tired, but we have had a good nights sleep and are getting ready to go visit the old part of the city of Jerusalem. It is truly overwhelming to be in this country. I will post some pictures soon. I hope all is well in the US.

Well I leave in the morning for a once in a lifetime trip to Israel. (actually twice in a lifetime I hope to take my family someday) Seventeen people from my church are making this incredible journey. I ask you to please pray for me and my friends as we travel.

Common Sense is gone. I am thankful that Alabama Senator Richard Shelby is willing to take a stand. Americans must wake up and take a long look at the truth. If we continue to just keep our eyes closed tight and say "i think they can" we will be a nation that falls. Government is not the solution, they cannot fix what is wrong. America was built by people not politics. Good moral judgement must be implemented or we will fall. Righteousness exalts a nation.

What a great night. The CCSB was a huge success. The church was packed to capicity and our Kid's Zone choir knocked a home run. It was both funny and serious as we shared about the many great names of our Savior. I included a couple pics from this great night. Wow is an understatement when describing the UBC Choir's upcoming performance All is Calm All is Bright. The instrumental ensemble has pulled so much rehearsal time to make our debut musical a true masterpiece. We are all very excited to showcase the phenomenal God given talents of our music ministry. So I pray that you will come and enjoy a magical night with the UBC Music Ministry. This is one of my favorite cantatas because it includes so many musical styles. It reaches from the the highest of high church and also has some toe tapping tunes that you are certain to enjoy. Please pray for our team as we do what we were created for Praising Jesus.

The Christmas County Spelling Bee. Is only a week away. It is going to be one of the best Christmas Productions I have ever had the opportunity to be apart of. Underwood Baptist Church is filled with so many people that are overly generous with their time and talents that these children's productions are a blast. UBC is interested in directing our children toward a Biblical relationship with Jesus. I hope you will have an opportunity to come and see this great presentation that shares so much truth about the precious name of my Savior.

On a personal note my beloved daughter will have a solo and she is so awesome..!!!!

Please read it and email me and lets talk about it. I love it.. It was a challenge to me personally. It also opened my eyes to the persecution of the church in China. It is awesome. Please read it or at least put it on you to do list to read. But the longer you wait to read it the more upset you will be with yourself for waiting..))

For my many loyal leaders i would like to recommend a couple of links i have been checking out over the past couple weeks. Worldview Weekend is filled with a ton of great content. I would like to encourage all ov you to go to the sight and scroll down and to the right and take the Worldview Test. I think it will help you verbalize your worldview.
The second of the two is No Hussein. This is a website I discovered during the pre-presidential election. It shines an alarming light on the life and career of President Elect Obama. I am quite fearful of this new party that is taking on the white house. Having said that I want to assure you that I do believe God is in control and he did not have to take a nerve pill because of who won the white house. I trust God and i trust that when His Word says that all authority is given by God. We can trust in God. However, we must stay vigilant and we must not take a backseat to any immoral doctrine or law that is being shoved upon us. Whether or not the world believes it there has to be a standard by which we live. God gave that standard. There is no, i repeat no deviation from this. No other standard will do. No other doctrine or dissertation, can change the facts that God has laid out. If i appear to be simple or narrow minded then you heard me clear. There is no way to have peace unless you go Gods way. We must if need be and i pray it never comes to fight for our rights. God gave us this land to be free to worship Him. How far have we come from that? Ask yourself what were the reasons for our first immigrants to come to America. I love America. Lets remain vigilant and guard first our heart and then our country.

We had an awesome harvest festival. We registered over 700 prospects. There was over 1200 people on our place. It was a great opportunity for us to minister to our neighborhood. God is really blessing our church.

2008 Bible Conference

What a great week we have had at UBC. Our Bible conference was one of the most unbelievable events I have ever been a part of. We had 5 great preachers to visit with us and share God's Word. One of them is pictured above with the staff of UBC. Dr. Jerry Vines preached Monday night and it was an unforgettable evening. It was a historical event in the life of UBC. It was a thrill to have such a beloved preacher of the Gospel to be with us.
I would also like to give a great word of thanks to the Underwood Baptist Choir. They are a top notch group of people. We had a packed choir loft ever night. I am so blessed to be at UBC.

It was a thrill to be in the service when the UBC student choir backed up the already awesome Southhill for the first night of our October Concert Series. It was a great night of worship. The month of October is going to be a very exciting month for our church. Lots of things happening in the life of my baby girl. In one week she has had a 6th birthday party, learned to ride her bike without training wheels, and started to kindergarten. Time flies. Seems only yesterday we brought here little four pound body home from the hospital. She was premature, permanently attached to a apnea monitor, very sickly. But now look at her. God has blessed me with an awesome little girl. She said after her first day of school that she had just experienced the best day of her life. The second day she said the same thing. This morning she said she wanted to take the day off she was very sleepy. She is a champion. My sweet Abbey!

I revisited a old bookmark on my computer this morning. It was a sermon preached by W A Criswell April 27th 1975. I lacked 4 months being 2 years old at the time. This is a joy to listen to. It is about 32 min. in length. If you are from a earlier generation than I you will love it. This sermon takes you back to a time perhaps when you were a child. If you are my age and you love Jesus it will give you a glimpse of a different era. It is a inspiring and entertaining sermon. It is one of my favorites. I hope you will take time to listen to it.

Well growing pains are obvious here at Underwood Baptist. We are currently constructing a new parking lot to accommodate members and visitors. It is a little inconvenient currently but when finished it will be a great addition to our facilities here at UBC. God is richly blessing us in every way. Our pastor is clearly leading the way toward the future and our staff is top notch. Together with every member of UBC we intend to do whatever it takes to reach our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So please bear with our progress.

Well a first happened last night. Our pastor was out of town and our associate pastors were in Honduras, our student pastor had already preached 3 times last week so the lot fell to me last night. I was both terrified and thrilled to be able to stand in the pulpit and share the things God had been impressing upon me lately. Thank God for placing me at a great church. I have been blessed in the past to serve at wonderful churches with terrific people and through those times God was equipping me for the task He has for me here at Underwood. I am so excited to be serving the Lord here in Florence.

Abbey, Bryant and Mandy came for a visit to Kid's Camp earlier this month. The kids loved playing in the creek. Bryant took a seat in the cool water and it went down hill from there. I'm glad i got a couple good shots before I had to chase them around the water hole. God is so good to give us simple pleasures to enjoy. It is terrific serving a great God.

Well today was not without incident, but God was once again my comfort despite my fear. Abbey made it through surgery OK. The procedure went very well. She is now recovering with us at the Hotel. She is having some pain, but is coping very well for a sweet five year old.
I would also like to give a great deal of thanks to "Bernard" a sweet little 4 year old green boy that made our visit this morning alot easier to bear. II Corinthians Ch. 1. Praise be to God the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts you in every situation so you will be able to comfort others with the same comfort you have received..BCRSV...(Brent Colley Revised Standard Version).

Please Pray for Abbey

This blog post is a prayer request for my daughter, Abbey. She will be 6 this year and she is the sunshine of my life. I'm asking you to pray for her eyes. Since her premature birth she has had eye muscle problems. As a matter of fact she has already had 3 surgeries. We have been waiting for about 3 months and finally upon our last check up our Doctor informed us that she meets all the criteria for surgery. Here is my prayer request. I'm praying that God would heal my baby's eye. I'm not just asking for a slight fix. If God heals her it will be very obvious to us. If he chooses to heal her with a miracle that is awesome if not I will trust that he has put us in contact with the greatest doctor available. Please Pray.

...PS..Abbey has no idea that anything is wrong with her eyes or that surgery is on the horizon so please do not mention anything about this to her. (or you might just come down with an eye muscle problem;)

I believe in prayer and healing. I'm not a name it and claim it kind of guy, but I remember vividly as a young boy suffering with asthma and we were leaving the house headed to the ER because I could not breath well. We were not far down the road and my lungs opened up and I could breath. We returned home to find a dear grandmother calling out to heaven to heal me. HE DID.

I am perhaps the happiest man alive. I have a awesome wife and two beautiful babies that love me, I have a good job, but more than all of that I am a Christian. The God of heaven loves me and has adopted me and I can call him Dad. My heavenly Father's love gives me direction and drive to be a good dad to Abbey and Bryant. The Psalmist described the kind of man I am striving to be. Psalm 112:1-8

Saturday Mandy, Abbey and I went to Tuscaloosa to see the big A Day Game. It was a blast. Abbey had her cheerleader outfit on practically the entire week. She was very excited. Almost as excited as her mom. We rolled out about 7:30AM had a great lunch, got to hear Coach Saban speak, and saw the crimson tide in action. We only stayed until half time because our faces were quickly becoming the most crimson colored thing there. It was a gorgeous day and we had a ton of fun. My Last Week At Lakeview.

March 2nd was the final Sunday for me to serve as the minister of music at LBC. The Lord truly blessed me to be able to serve here for almost 5 years. Above you can see a couple of pictures of my last week. The children were awesome. They all signed a huge card and gave it to me. The adult choir treated us to cake following our final rehearsal together. They also presented me with a very beautiful print. Sunday morning the children's choir sang "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus Medley" it was very special to me because Abbey sang her first solo. I must say she did great. (when I get a little more settled I intend to put the video of her singing on the blog) The adult choir sang one of my favorites, "Ten Thousand Years". Finally Sunday night the entire church had a reception for our whole family. It was first class. They had so many desserts it was a treat. They also had a "basket of blessings" that had so many thoughtful cards and many gifts. It truly was overwhelming. I am eternally grateful first of all to my Lord for allowing me to serve at LBC and also for a great choir, staff, and church family that loved and supported me.
In closing I ask that you will please continue to pray for me and my family and we continue with our transition to Underwood Baptist Church.

Who Will I Vote For?

I've been asked many times who my vote will be cast for so before I answer that let me first share with you who I will not vote for.

First, I would never vote for Sen. Hilliary C. I feel the same about a lady in the whitehouse as I do about a lady on the battlefield, they do not belong there. I love and respect ladies, but I would never vote for a lady to be president. Second, Barack "H" Obama. Without a doubt there have been many false stories floating around about Barack, but honestly, what's in a name? Our country has gone crazy if they will vote for a man with a name Hussein. I might think differently if i knew Barack personally, but I dont. I would no sooner vote for someone named "Hitler" or "Stalin." I'm not sure if the stories about him not placing his hand over his heart when he quotes the pledge is true, or even the logic behind his actions, but if his name was not enough or pety enough I could not vote for him as a democrat. (i suppose that is a more legitimate reason)

Third and a little more close to home is a guy that actually has a chance in the Republican side of things, Mit Romney. Honestly I think we have another name issue here. President Mit? Just doesnt have that power does it? It sounds like a schoolyard nickname. Seriously though, Mit is a Morman. If he is the nominee I will struggle, but I would probably vote for him. I would definatly feel uneasy if the most powerful man in the world was a member of a cult. Finally lets take a look at "Big Mac" I think he is very experienced, but my personal feeling is that he will feel the pressure to make his mark in history so badly on whatever issue is available that he will ultimatly be ineffective. Another thing is his views on illegals. If i am not mistaken he is in favor of giving amnesty to those without a criminal record and i am strongly opposed to that. I sadly admit that it looks like he will get the nomination. If he does I will definatly vote for him and pray that he is as hardnosed as he looks and will do a great job.

So who will I vote for? If i could appoint a fellow to the White House it would be Mike H. a former Southern Baptist Preacher, someone who in public called homosexuality an imoral lifestyle. A man that knows what he believes and says it even though it is not popular. My vote will be cast for Mike H.

Well this is a very opinionated blog for me. I am honestly worried about our country. I feel that we are allowing minorities and special intrest groups to shout their way to stardome without the tinest bit of resistance from anyone. I hate to point fingers but it really seems like the democrats are giving them the platform to do it from. I think the days of the "good" democrats are over. Same sex marraige, Abortion, are being crammed down the throat of Americans and it should be a crime. Hilliary wants the federal government to control healthcare. This will never work. I live in a state that tried it and it has failed miserably and cost the state millions. I shudder to think of an american citizen a lawyer who would dare go to Cuba and represent an accused terrorist and act as if he has rights. I will never forget 9-11, and whatever doors need to be kicked in to find terrorist then i think they should be kicked in. I will continue to pray for our leaders to be moral and honorable for without these characteristics we will surely fail. God has given us a great nation. We should fight to protect our people and our idenity. We live in the United States of America and we must never be ashamed or weak as we defend our way of life.

Wow that was a rant.....lets wrap this all up by quoting Romans 13:1 "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

I will not vote for Hilliary or Barack, but if they are elected I will pray for them.

In the mean time I am praying that Mike H. will make a comeback.

As I sat and took pictures of my baby girl I was crushed once again by the truth, "time flies."
I remember when i was a kid playing in the streams by my house never reallying knowing what was ahead, and honestly not really worrying about it. This year will be a year of happiness and sadness, laughter and tears, but I am thankful the the Joy of the Lord is my strength. I cannot begin to understand how someone enduring life without the comfort of God's grace in their life. What a joy I have watching my babies grow up, but what a greater joy I have knowing that I am teaching them about Jesus and true joy in their life.
God bless you this 2008 year. Serve the Lord more than you ever have. I was reading the other day about what we the body of Christ look like in our daily walk compared to what the Bible calls us to be. It was a brutal comparison. So in 2008 I challenge all the readers of this blog entry to be a Christian not in just word but in deed. Read the Word, pray, worship the Lord daily and go to church and worship with other believers. Have a great year.

They say,"you pay for your raising" Well I have thought for over five years that I had escaped this awful truth. Then the Lord sent us Bryant. At the most he had two min to make his move for the toilet. Abbey had opened our door to look for a flash light and left the door open so we are blaming her. It was too funny not to take a picture but too awful to really believe it was happening. (and for all your weak stomached individuals it was flushed.) phew...

Take a look at that same little toilet diver here. You would never guess that he would be capable of even a bad thought. I'm scared of what might happen when they start working together.

What a great time of year. I have so much to be thankful for. I am most thankful that I have trusted Jesus as my Savior. It is because of Christ that I exist and can be happy. Mr. D gave several children a special treat Friday by flying the Apache Heli. to Selmer. I was among those happy kids. My family and I are very grateful to all our veterans. I hope everyone that reads this blog post will seek out a veteran and tell him or her thanks. Mandy and I are teaching Bryant and Abbey to respect those who have served and are serving our country and protecting our freedom.

Big Al got great reviews at the trunk or treat. Notice Mandy was wearing her orange. One of the only days of the year you will catch her wearing orange. One of our good friends told us we should have dressed the kids in orange so they would have been scarier.

It was an amazing night. Had over 1300 people come through our Trunk or Treat. It was terrific. The members of LBC really out did themselves with all the work they did to make this night a success.

Pumpkin carving was a big hit at our house. Abbey begged and pleaded all morning for Mandy and me to get up and go outside to carve pumpkins. So we paused the ballgame went outside and after about 20 min Abbey stated very boldly that "this was not as much fun as she thought it would be....LOL. I love my babies. Revival at LBC was awesome. We had a tremendous team Mike Cocoris and Jim Murray. It was extra special for me to host Jim and his wife Loretta. Jim is a world renown singer he has numerous Grammies and Dove awards for his recordings with the Imperials and Gaither Vocal Band. He sang with Elvis Presley, Carol Channing and many other artist. Serving with him this week was a wonderful experience he is a very gracious and easy going dude. I would highly recommend him for leading worship in revival. The people at LBC loved his music and he was quick to share with you how the Lord transformed his life.

Tuesday night I talked them into letting me sing with them. They chose an old song called the Lighthouse and I just happened to have my video camera..:)

Mandy has gone to the Alabama/Tennessee game. Abbey, Bryant and I are trying to see Mom and Nina on TV. Roll Tide. It is hard living with these TN fans win or lose. I will vote for TN to lose, but it will be a difficult game. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!

GALL BLADDER

Well today I am having my gall bladder removed. Hopefully this will relieve me of some suffering. If you read my blog this is a plea for you to pray for me and my family today and I go under the wrench. (knife) I'm not excited but i think it is nessessary. I will keep you all posted.

I will be back tonight....If it is the Lord's will.......
